Construction sequence overview

This overview shows the general shape of an Affordaplane project. The official Affordaplane plans and construction manual control the actual build process and order.

  1. Planning and workspaceGather plans, materials, and a flat work surface.

Aluminum approach

The Affordaplane uses mostly 6061-T6 aluminum, with 4130 steel wing attach fittings discussed in the workshop material. Local metal suppliers may help reduce shipping costs.

No-welding design

The fuselage construction uses bolted aluminum tube and gusset assemblies. Dave emphasizes that builders do not need welding equipment or aircraft tube welding skills for this airplane.
