Robert began building in 2017 after leaving the hospital with new energy to follow his dream of building a small flying machine. He discovered the Affordaplane online and was drawn to its simplicity.
He described sourcing materials in Australia as a challenge, but doable using the internet. After earning his recreational pilot license, he flew the Affordaplane and found it easy to land and enjoyable in a range of conditions.

Jason had loved aviation since childhood and ordered Affordaplane plans after finding the design online. He built his airplane in a one-car garage from February 2020 through November 2020.
He came to the project with some general aviation training but no pilot certificate. With encouragement from Affordaplane builders and flyers, he finished the airplane and later wrote that it flew beautifully.
